Welcome to The Work IN!
Mastering the art of saying NO for successful fit pros
Many women have been conditioned from an early age to override that inner voice that says “no”. That gut feeling that this is wrong, we don’t want this. Our intuition. That conditioning infuses us with the culturally acceptable boundaries for who we are as women in our families, in business and in the world. We are all complicit in our own limitations. At some point we had to agree with it. But that conditioning chafes when you wake up to your dark side and realize what you have is not what you want and you can do something about it. That’s our work IN today. The benefit of finding the “no” to open the door to “yes”.
The #1 boundary to set no matter what you teach or coach
We’re shifting gears a bit over the next few weeks as we take a look at some essentials for fit pro success. Now I know not all of us are fitness professionals. But we all are fitness and wellness consumers. And because of that I want to take some time to share some of the qualities that make good instructors better and great instructors great. These are things we can all look for when shopping for wellness options that work for us.
Our work in today is the #1 boundary fit pro’s need to set and that we can look for as savvy consumers of fitness.
Muscle through menopause: Beyond the hot flash
If we don’t know why something happens in a female body it may be because we haven’t asked the question. My intention for today is to empower you with what we do understand AND to give you permission to trust your body’s intuition and wisdom. Menopause is a natural transition; it is not a death sentence.
For the scope of today's discussion we will stay within the boundaries of the body.
Eating to sleep and sleep to cure cravings
If you’ve ever felt the frustration of mystery “overnight” weight gain or doing everything right and not getting the results you’re after. Or struggled to find a good night sleep in spite of exhaustion. This is the episode for you. Our work IN today is a look at the link between sleep and cravings and how we can leverage the gut brain communication pathways to reset our metabolism AND get more restful restorative sleep.
Nutrition results that you can live with
So often at the beginning of the year we feel a push change. A push towards healthy eating choices and a pull towards familiar habit patterns. When both happen at the same time we get stuck in the middle. The body is a complicated system of networks and they all communicate and work with each other, pushing and pulling to some kind of balance. Understanding the push and pull can set us up for success or struggle and that’s our Work IN today. We’ll be looking at how we can simplify and personalize our approach to nutrition and nourishment to give us the kind of results we can live with.
Exercise and the myth of motivation
Motivation is an unsustainable myth. At least in the sense that most of us understand it. The idea that we need to feel some kind of way in order to take action toward our goals is BS. We shouldn’t be reliant on a fleeting sensation for anything, especially not our health and fitness. It’s time to be the grown-up in this mind-body relationship. That’s our work IN this week. We’re looking at why we do what we do and how understanding the myth of motivation can help us take radical responsibility for our actions and enjoy the long term consequences of our health choices.
